The Kitikmeot Cup is bigger than Christmas. The whole hamlet descends on the rec centre for round after round of amateur hockey. Tonight was the skills competition with iPad2s going out the door for hardest shot, quickest on skates, etc. Folks have come in from all around the region, filling the half dozen hotel beds and spilling into the spare rooms and couches of local residents.
We caught some of the opening ceremonies before heading off for Inuinnaqtun class. Expect more coverage through the weekend.
